Something for Everyone
As you drive around Pigeon Forge, you won’t help but notice the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel soaring 200 feet into the sky. The first time we visited The Island, that’s about all that was there, along with a few restaurants.
Since then, it has grown into a place that is on our “must visit” list each and every time we visit Pigeon Forge. There’s attractions, rides and restaurants, all in an area convenient to walk from place to place. For the adults, there’s also moonshine, wine and craft beer. There’s rides and attractions for all ages, from the little ones to adults.
Many of our favorite places that we’ll write up separately are located at The Island. Among our favorite places there are Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen Restaurant, Ole Smoky Moonshine, Pepper Palace and 7D Dark Ride Adventure.
If you do nothing else at The Island, it’s worth the trip just to see The Island Show Fountain. Every half an hour, you will be treated to a water & light show set to music (two songs). Grab a comfortable rocking chair in advance and enjoy these wonderful, free shows. In addition, there’s often free entertainment outside Ole Smoky, usually bluegrass bands.
