Townsend Wye – Our favorite swim hole
On our first trip to the Smokies, we had big intentions to go to Cades Cove one day – but we never made it. The kids noticed families jumping off a rock and swimming in this beautiful setting. They wanted to stop. We ended up spending hours there and never made it to Cades Cove that day. It’s a wonderful place to cool off on a hot day. Some people bring their own tubes for floating around the area (we’ve never done that ourselves).
This spot has been named the Townsend Wye due to it’s location, where there is a Y in the road where you can head one way to go into Townsend, one way to go towards Cades Cove and one that brings you the opposite direction into the Smoky Mountain National Park.
